W Hotels is strengthening its presence in Italy with the highly anticipated debut of W Sardinia – Poltu Quatu, marking the brand’s first venture on the island. Part of the global portfolio of Marriott Bonvoy, the opening follows an initial preview in 2025 and signals a continued push into culturally rich Mediterranean destinations, joining sister properties in Rome and Florence.

Positioned along the northeastern coastline of Sardinia, the resort sits between Porto Cervo and Baia Sardinia, overlooking the marina at Poltu Quatu – a village whose name translates to “hidden port.” Built into a dramatic natural fjord, the property cascades across granite cliffs, framed by Mediterranean vegetation and crystalline waters.

The 157-room hotel, designed by Meyer Davis in collaboration with DE.TALES, reflects W Hotels’ signature design-forward philosophy while drawing heavily on local heritage. The architecture pays homage to the original vision of Le Suisse, blending geometric forms and sweeping arches with contemporary finishes.

Guests are welcomed by a striking sculpture from Sardinian artist Nicola Filia, setting the tone for interiors that reference the island’s mythology and natural elements. The W Lounge, inspired by the legend of the Janas mythical cave dwellers features textured materials, mirrored surfaces, and Orosei marble flooring. Works from regional creatives, including Walter Usai, Fabrizio Sanna, and Cinzia Murgia, are integrated throughout, curated in partnership with Kooness.

Accommodation ranges from guestrooms to expansive suites, with select options offering private plunge pools. At the top end, two penthouse suites deliver residential-style luxury, complete with private terraces, pools, and panoramic coastal views.

At the heart of the resort’s social scene are its signature venues, including the W Lounge and WET Deck, where music programming and cocktail culture play a central role. The property also houses AWAY Spa and FIT, W’s wellness and fitness concepts designed to balance the brand’s high-energy atmosphere.

Dining at W Sardinia – Poltu Quatu is led by Chef Antonio Bitetto, with pastry creations from Fabrizio Fiorani taking focus in the immersive Dolce Room. The culinary direction emphasizes Sardinian traditions, reinterpreted through a contemporary lens.

The signature restaurant TANIT, named after the ancient goddess of abundance, anchors the dining experience. Overlooking the marina, the venue serves seafood-driven menus that highlight local ingredients, paired with an environment shaped by organic forms and coastal textures.

True to the W brand’s experiential ethos, the hotel offers a rotating calendar of cultural programming. Guests can engage with local artisans, participate in culinary workshops, or explore Sardinia’s rugged landscape through guided hikes. An artist-in-residence program further connects visitors with the island’s creative community.

Wellness extends beyond the gym, with sunrise yoga sessions and marina walks designed to integrate movement into the natural setting. Meanwhile, the hotel’s private marina provides direct access to curated excursions, including boat trips to the La Maddalena Archipelago and Caprera, offering a closer look at the region’s unspoiled coastline.

According to George Fleck, Senior Vice President and Global Brand Leader at W Hotels, the Sardinia opening represents a strategic step in expanding the brand’s Italian portfolio. With its blend of design, gastronomy, and cultural programming, the property underscores W Hotels’ approach to entering destinations where local identity and global lifestyle intersect.
