Courtyard® by Marriott Waikiki Beach has officially unveiled a sweeping, multi-million dollar transformation, marking a new chapter for the 405-room property in one of Hawai‘i’s most iconic destinations.

Set along Royal Hawaiian Avenue, just moments from Waikiki Beach and within easy reach of Diamond Head, the revitalised hotel introduces a fully redesigned guest experience spanning upgraded accommodations, new dining concepts, and reimagined communal spaces.

Led by design firm //3877, the renovation touches every corner of the property, beginning with all guestrooms and suites. Interiors now reflect a contemporary island aesthetic, blending bold ocean blues, warm natural tones, and textured finishes inspired by Waikīkī’s coastal landscape.

A standout addition is the newly reimagined 850-square-foot penthouse on the 18th floor of the Ola Tower. Designed as a residential-style retreat, the space features an executive kitchen, expansive living areas, and a wraparound terrace with panoramic views stretching from the mountains to the Pacific Ocean.

General Manager Paul Garcia said the transformation goes beyond aesthetics. “This is about creating spaces that connect guests to the heart of Waikiki: business ready, island steady,” he noted, adding that the redesign celebrates Hawai‘i’s culture of hospitality and the spirit of aloha.

The hotel’s three towers: Kalo, Mo‘i, and Ola have been thoughtfully named in collaboration with cultural practitioner Ku’uipo Kumukahi of the Hawaiian Music Perpetuation Society.

Each name reflects elements of the traditional Hawaiian ahupua‘a system, which connects land from mountain (mauka) to ocean (makai):

  • Kalo symbolises nourishment and deep cultural roots
  • Mo‘i references both a prized fish and royal heritage
  • Ola represents health, vitality, and renewal

This cultural framework informs the guest experience, reinforcing a connection to place throughout the property.

Public areas have been redesigned to balance energy and relaxation. An open-air lobby flows into a lush courtyard anchored by a central pool and patio oasis, complete with fire features and flexible seating for social gatherings.

Additional amenities include a quieter saltwater pool in the Mo‘i Tower, a nine-hole mini golf course, upgraded fitness facilities, and Spa Pure Waikiki. Refreshed meeting spaces also cater to business travellers seeking productivity in a resort-style setting.

The transformation introduces a trio of new dining venues, developed in partnership with ZETTON Inc.:

  • Aloha Amigo brings together island influences and bold Mexican flavours in a lively cantina-style setting
  • Peppermint Café & Pool Bar offers casual poolside dining with tropical cocktails and light bites
  • Ali‘i Coffee Co. highlights locally roasted beans by island barista James Webb, serving cold brews, nitro coffee, teas, and signature “coff-tails” alongside pastries and sandwiches

A grab-and-go concept, CRATE, further enhances convenience for guests on the move.

Beyond the guestrooms, the hotel is positioning itself as a hub for immersive island experiences. Guests can access bike and GoPro rentals, beach-ready amenities, and curated equipment through a partnership with Beach Candy Waikiki.

Surf experiences are also available via the Jamie O’Brien School of Surf, offering lessons in Waikiki—widely regarded as the birthplace of modern surfing.

From wellness-focused activities to recreational offerings, the property’s refreshed programming is designed to reflect the rhythm and energy of O‘ahu, catering to both leisure and business travellers.
