In a landmark move for Singapore’s wellness and tourism landscape, Therme Group has been awarded the Concept and Price Revenue Tender by the Singapore Tourism Board (STB) to develop a S$1 billion state-of-the-art wellbeing destination at Marina South Coastal. The project marks the global wellbeing developer’s first venture into Asia, establishing the region’s first large-scale social wellbeing infrastructure.
Occupying a 4-hectare waterfront site adjacent to Marina Barrage and Gardens by the Bay, the upcoming destination will blend water, nature, and architecture into a cohesive urban oasis. Upon completion, it is projected to welcome around 2 million visitors annually, with approximately half expected to be international travellers.
Redefining Urban Wellbeing at Scale
Developed in collaboration with DP Architects, one of Singapore’s most prominent architectural firms, and Therme ARC, Therme Group’s in-house design practice, the new destination is envisioned as a transformative space that integrates wellness, culture, and community within the heart of the city.
“Therme Group is pioneering the future of wellbeing at scale globally,” said Dr Robert Hanea, Founder and CEO of Therme Group. “Our winning proposal for the Marina South Coastal site reflects our shared vision for how cities can integrate wellbeing into everyday life. In Singapore, we’re creating a destination for residents and visitors alike—where wellness, culture, and nature come together. Backed by decades of science and innovation, Therme Singapore will redefine urban living by making holistic health enjoyable and accessible to all.”
A Destination for Everyone
Positioned as more than a spa or resort, Therme Singapore aims to serve as a comprehensive wellbeing destination anchored in the Group’s four core pillars: Water & Nature, Sustainability & Design, and Arts & Culture. Visitors can expect an immersive experience that combines thermal pools, lush botanical environments, world-class art installations, and cutting-edge health technology.
“Therme Singapore embodies the vision of wellness for all,” added Mah Bow Tan, Chairman of Therme Group Asia. “We’re creating a welcoming space that caters to people of all ages and backgrounds, promoting healthy living, social connection, and community wellbeing. By collaborating with local organisations and activating the surrounding public spaces, we aim to make this another jewel of Marina Bay showcasing Singapore as a leader in holistic wellness.”
Sustainability and Innovation at the Core
Designed as a class-leading sustainable development, Therme Singapore will incorporate proprietary water recycling systems, sustainable energy solutions, and biophilic architectural design to minimise environmental impact. The integration of green and blue spaces along the waterfront underscores Therme Group’s commitment to sustainability and wellbeing through design.
Singapore Tourism Board’s Vision for Urban Wellness commenting on the project, Ms Jean Ng, Assistant Chief Executive of the Experience Development Group at STB, said:
“We are pleased to award this landmark wellness attraction tender to Therme Group Singapore. Our vision is to establish Singapore as a leading urban wellness haven through a world-class facility that offers transformative experiences for both visitors and locals. Their approach—encompassing physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing—aligns with our focus on quality tourism and our efforts to enhance Singapore’s appeal as a destination that nurtures both body and mind.”
