Vertical construction has officially begun at Six Senses Xala, the forthcoming luxury hotel and branded residences within Xala, a 3,000-acre sustainable coastal community along Mexico’s Pacific Coast. The project marks the first Six Senses destination in Mexico and a major milestone for the $1 billion Xala development.

The Six Senses Xala hotel will feature 51 suites, designed by Xala Co-Founding Partner Juan Bremer in collaboration with Combeau Architects. With architectural design complete and early site work concluded, construction is now advancing toward a planned opening in March 2028.

In addition to the hotel, 36 oceanfront branded residences are being developed at one of the lowest densities ever achieved in Mexico, with less than 20 percent of the land designated for development. Each residence occupies a 3.7-acre lot with up to 190 feet of beachfront, designed as a single-story retreat integrated into the natural landscape. Early demand has been strong, with ten of the first twelve residences in phase one already sold.

“This milestone represents years of thoughtful planning and collaboration,” said Juan Bremer, Co-Founding Partner of Xala. “Every element has been designed with intention, purpose, and respect for the land.”

Six Senses Xala will follow the brand’s holistic approach to wellness, featuring a signature Six Senses Spa, indoor and outdoor fitness facilities, wellness programming, and the brand’s Eat With Six Senses culinary philosophy. Guests and residents will also have access to Xala’s extensive natural amenities, including over 20 miles of trails, two estuaries, four mountain peaks, and one of the longest uninterrupted stretches of secluded beach on Mexico’s Pacific Coast.

Planned community amenities include three beach clubs, a surf club, farm-to-fork dining, wine and spirits club, equestrian center, and a turtle conservation camp. Improved accessibility is expected with the nearby Costalegre airport, slated to begin local operations in 2026.

Xala’s long-term environmental and social initiatives are led by The Xala Foundation and its Sierra a Mar program, supporting education, sustainable fishing, women-led entrepreneurship, and the protection of 100 kilometers of coastline.
