High above the town of Banff, where alpine peaks rise beyond the Bow Valley and wilderness defines the rhythm of daily life, Rimrock Banff has entered a new chapter. The longstanding Canadian Rockies landmark has reopened following an extensive transformation, becoming the first North American address for Emblems Collection, Accor’s curated portfolio of distinctive luxury hotels and resorts.
Set within Banff National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the resort marks the collection’s second global opening following Lucknam Park Hotel & Spa in the English countryside. Its arrival introduces a more intimate expression of mountain hospitality, bringing together the property’s established identity with a renewed focus on design, personal service and experiences shaped by the surrounding landscape.
The transformation retains the resort’s original architectural structure while reimagining its interiors and guest experience around the mountains. Terraced architecture follows the natural contours of the hillside, while expansive windows and carefully framed views keep the Canadian Rockies at the centre of the stay. Natural stone, warm wood tones and tactile textiles create a residential atmosphere that feels connected to the landscape rather than separated from it.

Across 320 guestrooms, including 57 suites, the emphasis is on space, comfort and the changing scenery beyond the windows. The Infinity Two-Bedroom Suite takes this approach further with a wraparound terrace spanning more than 1,260 square feet, complete with a barrel sauna and fire table overlooking the national park. Wellness Studio suites, meanwhile, incorporate movement and recovery amenities, sleep-focused details and wellness minibars for guests looking to maintain a sense of balance throughout their stay.
Well-being extends into the resort’s 9,600-square-foot Bathhouse, which introduces Banff’s first luxury hydrothermal wellness experience. Indoor and outdoor thermal environments include vitality and hot pools, a mountain-facing infinity pool, a salt sauna, an aromatic steam room and glacial cold plunges. A suspended meditation room and Aurora sensory room offer quieter spaces for reflection, drawing on the restorative atmosphere of the surrounding wilderness.
A separate 3,800-square-foot Active Centre complements the Bathhouse with Technogym and Peloton equipment, climbing and bouldering walls, guided movement classes and recovery-focused facilities. Together, the spaces establish wellness as an integral part of the mountain experience, balancing physical activity with opportunities to slow down.
Beyond the resort, the Expeditions Centre opens access to more than 50 seasonal activities across adventure, culture, wellness and nature. Led by the property’s Pathfinders, the experiences range from privately guided hikes and forest bathing to alpine yoga, canyon ice walks, Indigenous cultural encounters and excursions to the Athabasca Glacier. Rather than treating the landscape as a backdrop, the programme encourages guests to engage with Banff through its natural features, communities and stories.

The same connection to place shapes the resort’s dining programme. At Parker’s Table, the signature restaurant, seasonal cuisine celebrates Canada’s northern ingredients through relationships with local farmers, fishers and foragers. Rimrock Social provides a central gathering place, while The Listening Room offers an intimate setting for fine wines, rare spirits and vinyl. Rimrock Market completes the collection with specialty coffee, curated provisions and an après-inspired atmosphere.
Local identity also finds expression through Emblems Collection’s signature traditions. At Rimrock Banff, alpine honey serves as the Emblematic Ingredient, selected for its connection to the surrounding environment and its associations with hospitality and wellness. In partnership with Alberta-based Highland Farm Honey, the ingredient appears in the Alpine Honey Spritz arrival ritual, wellness tonics and culinary creations.
It also inspires the resort’s interpretation of the collection’s signature Travel Cake, developed in collaboration with Korean pastry chef Yun Eunyoung of Seoul-based Garuharu. Here, pine needle cake and alpine honey ganache evoke the forests and flavours of Banff, translating the destination into a distinctive pastry experience.
The collection’s cultural programme continues through Emblems Editions, a literary anthology bringing together poetry, historical accounts, essays and perspectives connected to Banff National Park, including voices from Indigenous communities, pioneers and writers. At the heart of the guest experience is the Master Pathfinder, the resort’s interpretation of Emblems Collection’s Master of the House. Working with a team of Pathfinders, the role centres on creating individual itineraries and personal encounters that reveal the destination beyond its familiar landmarks.
With Rimrock Banff, Emblems Collection begins its North American chapter in a setting where the landscape is inseparable from the hotel’s identity. The result is a mountain retreat that balances contemporary luxury with a deeper engagement with nature, culture and local character, offering a different way to experience one of Canada’s most recognisable destinations.
