Legian’s dining and lifestyle scene is welcoming a new Japanese-inspired destination as Bali Mandira Beach Resort & Spa introduces Mister Wasabi, a contemporary concept that brings together traditional Japanese culinary techniques, creative flavours and a social atmosphere designed to appeal to both diners and evening crowds.

Located in the heart of Legian, Mister Wasabi offers two distinct experiences within the same venue. Upstairs, a modern Japanese restaurant centres around an open kitchen, allowing guests to see traditional techniques reinterpreted through a contemporary lens. Downstairs, the izakaya takes on a livelier character, creating a setting for sharing plates, handcrafted cocktails and sake in a more relaxed and energetic environment.

Mister Wasabi is the latest addition to the Bali Mandira Beach Resort & Spa family, which has developed a diverse collection of dining, wellness and lifestyle concepts over the years, including Azul Beach Club, Glow Spa, Farmer’s Daughter and Fat Bowl. The resort is also a long-standing favourite among Australian travellers visiting Bali.

At the heart of Mister Wasabi is the philosophy of Sōsaku ryōri (創作料理), a Japanese culinary approach centred on creative and inventive cuisine. The concept takes inspiration from classic Japanese traditions while giving them a contemporary interpretation through bold flavour combinations, artistic presentation and unexpected touches. Traditional techniques remain central to the experience, while the menu is designed to explore new directions in taste and presentation.

The offering extends beyond Japanese favourites, with innovative dishes complemented by handcrafted cocktails and a wide selection of sake. Together with its modern design and dual dining concepts, Mister Wasabi brings food, drinks and social connection into one destination, making it suitable for everything from an intimate dinner or casual gathering to drinks that continue into the evening.

With its combination of Japanese tradition, contemporary creativity and a distinctly social atmosphere, Mister Wasabi is set to add a new dimension to Legian’s dining scene, offering locals and visitors another reason to explore the neighbourhood after sunset and experience Japanese cuisine in a fresh, modern setting.
